New fashion brand Blessd steps out at PIN fashion finals
Fashion newcomer Claire Priest of Blessd will be showcasing a collection of clothing cut for curves on the catwalk this week at the PIN fashion competition finals. At the event Blessd, which specialises in the design, manufacture and retail of clothing for slim, curvy women, will discover whether it has won the £10,000 prize in the ‘Young Business’ category. Each of the 12 finalists will showcase their collection on the catwalk at Birmingham’s Millennium Point in a live fashion show on Thursday 21st February.
Blessd was one of 12 successful designers to be picked from a total of 42 applicants for the PIN competition, designed to profile the best new fashion talents in the West Midlands Region. The judges were particularly impressed with Claire’s commercial awareness and her vision to create a unique brand specifically designed for women with curvaceous figures.
Blessd specialises in fashionable clothing designed to compliment a woman’s natural body shape. The Blessd-dressed woman is typically someone with a healthy, active lifestyle, with either a bust over a D cup or more generous than average hips in relation to their relatively trim, UK 8-16 waist size. The brand’s clothing comes in Blessd’s own sizing which caters for 2-3 degrees of curviness at each traditional size point.
Eight Blessd models with “real” figures will be representing the Blessd brand on the catwalk, showcasing the latest Spring/Summer collection, which includes Blessd’s new suiting range, a variety of fresh, versatile summer-wear pieces with a sophisticated twist and shimmering evening-wear perfect for a glamorous summer event. It will be left to the panel of four PIN Judges, which includes Sourcing Director for Marks & Spencer Nick Jones, to decide who will walk away with the prestigious winner’s title and the two £10,000 prizes.
The new Blessd website was launched last month enabling women to purchase the new Blessd range online at: www.blessd.com
Managing Director of Blessd, Claire Priest, says: “At last we are beginning to see more awareness of women with real figures, though this is only just reaching the catwalk. I am delighted that the PIN fashion judges have recognised the unique concept of the Blessd brand. Obviously winning the competition would be wonderful but just to see my designs on the catwalk, being modelled by women with real figures, is an amazing accomplishment in itself.”
